I know I've been staying quiet on the updates but I've been working on a couple of long term special projects, as well as some gifts for friends. More on the gifts later, but here's the first addition to the shop for 2015, my Gypsy Hands Brooch:

Recent Felt Dolls

Among my recent shop updates were these guys :)

And there are going to be more felt dolls that can be used as ornaments to come.

Oh, and I never got to post Invader Zim & Gir, but these were for a friend a few months ago,

Updates: wearables and etc

So, a few matters of business, 

1. My lax (some might say, "lazy"- eep) posting was also a product of technical difficulties that were  solved by finding the perfect browser, so hopefully more frequent posts.

2. I've updated my Etsy shop with a mix of silk, felt and wearable items.

3. Yes, wearable items. Items like these garters:

 and soon, other wearables and dolls too :)

4. I have a new art doll I'll be releasing soon, she's been a big project for me, my first trial in mixing fabric and clay pieces. I'm pretty excited for her... (Hint: trying to finish her in time for Halloween & Dia de los Muertos.)

This is my latest doll, part of my Exquisite Garden collection, a kind of magical group I've been thinking about. This one is now available in my Etsy shop. I imagine him on his own, or a bjd companion.

The Frog Terrarium

Much like the Diamonds & Bones terrarium I made a couple months ago, I found another set of interlocking glassware, this time: a candle holder, and a vase. Once I realized they fit, I had to make this frog a home:

A Taste of Things to Come... "The Exquisite Garden"

I've been lying low on Etsy for a while now,  partly from "real job" working, but also because I've slowly been progressing different projects. The things I've been working on are not necessarily related in function, but the aesthetic and idea are the same...

Window Dressing: Honey NY April 2014

Here are some pictures of a window dressing gig I had for Honey (110 N. 6th Street, Brooklyn NY.) Though I rarely have jobs that are related to my doll making, they needed a Spring Wedding season window and I knew just what it should be: "Garden Party Bridal Shower." 

To make things more "accurate", I made an assortment of "panty pastries." Here are a few pictures:

Spring Time Projects

With Springtime here, my succulents head outside and the outside comes in my latest terrariums

 When the snowstorm hit, I already had a little time off, as well as sewing projects to complete, so let's see...

Felt Commissions

 My Louise & Kuchi Kopi doll caused quite a stir, so I decided to take custom orders (as well as make a few for fun.) I got a great response and have been enjoying fulfilling orders for these guys.
Two more customs to go but they all have a home.  :) More pictures to come, and some I can't release until after they are gifted ;)

Work in Progress: The Lady

Here are some sneak peeks at the finished portions of my latest doll, The Lady.

Once her gloves, shoes and dress hem are complete, she will be up for sale in my Etsy shop. I'm expecting that to be in abboouuttt a week. :)

The Opulent Swan

Here is one of the pieces I've recently reworked. She was much simpler before, with just a rose in her hair but I decided to give her a decidedly more Elizabethan/ Renaissance look with an ornate neck collar and beaded hairnet.
My inspiration? I blame my recent devouring of the BBC's, "Robin Hood" as well as my summer trip to London for this :)

That bend in the beak lends itself perfectly to a regal profile, don't you think?

The body and collar are composed of 3 different types of silk.

What I've Been Up To...

Okay, so it's been a long while since my last post but it's been a crazy year+ , with moves (x2), job changes, renovations (that second apt is a real fixer-upper), family trips,  events for friends, and lots of etc.

I took a significant hiatus from sewing, dolls, and posting. While I did make a few things here and there, they were mostly for personal gifts.

Here are some sneak peeks at the finished portions of my latest doll, The Lady. Her styling, as well as the Opulent Swan's were inspired by my trip to London's Victoria & Albert museum, as well as several evenings watching BBC's "Robin Hood."

Among the "etc." (and gifts.)  Inspired by an obsession with, "Bob's Burgers" that my bf was very happy to inflict upon me. 

 Buuut that doesn't mean I haven't been coming up with ideas to execute, I think this break has given me the chance to flesh out some of things I've wanted to make for quite some time now.

I'm starting off by relisting a few unsold items from my shop at sale prices, (a couple of which are already snatched up,) and completing a few unfinished pieces. Keep an eye out, because updates are coming.
