In Progress: The Sisters

I finally got around to working on the Siamese twin torso I started and left so long ago. Now they have heads, and are in the pinning stage for their dress. I kind of jumped ahead (they still need legs) but I've been trying to practice/learn embroidery so I jumped on the skirt first. The skill level isn't quite where I want it to be yet but I'll just have to keep at it.

Possible pose for them, though I originally had something else specific in mind.

They have a splitting headache right now

Doll Update: "Plague" completed

but she turned into something else entirely, so shocked only to actually be...guilty?
IMG_2397

I'm saving the mask for another doll, perhaps she's taken aback by that.

IMG_2400

No reason for her to complain though, she's on her way to Australia right now where the wonderful Victoria Buckley Jewellery will host her for sale.

Jackie Doe

Another felt project with a "punny" name, this one a slice of Americana:

Jackie Doe

Is it unlady-like to not wear pants? (or a skirt)

Jackie Doe

Perhaps she thought she was so lady-like she could get away with it.

"Catryoshka"

I made these "catryoshka" as a mini project.

"Catryoshka"

Felt projects are super fun to squeeze in between fanciful silk dolls because they finish so quickly (comparatively).

"Catryoshka"

Next on the blogging block, my just finished "Jackie Doe" and the finished product of "Plague doll" turned "shocked doll"...

Pink Bird- with a tail like a peony

 pinkbird

Here's one of my latest- she already has a home! I made the bow front first and wanted to mimic the same with the tail but as it was forming, I let it get tighter, more circular and it turned out like a peony. This got me thinking, I'd like to make a small garden of birds as well as a formal bow-tail bird. So much to do!

Christmas Cards

take too freaking long to make but I'd rather have trees with backgrounds (original version is plain), see:

IMG_2355
I still haven't figured out what I want to do with the fronts...
It's kind of helpful that I'm giving out very few cards.

IMG_2354

Annndd that Will has decided to have Byron (my cat) star in his holiday cards, so I'll send a few of those out as well.
Here is the hat he'll be wearing (I added elastic and ribbon to an existing ornament). You'll have to wait to see how he looks but "unbearably cute" comes to mind.

Also, the cardinals I ordered for my present-theme arrived today  :)
You'd be surprised how much I was searching for the right ones- I think these are perfect.

I hope to eventually make an entire alphabet with each bird being an individiual with their own personality.

Christmas Is Fast Approaching

And I'm trying to be prepared (but it's not really working).

xmasy

I have a wrapping theme worked out in my head but a prototype is in order. I usually o.d. on ribbons but I'm going somewhat "rustic" this year.

xmasy2

I'm also trying to make some (if not all of my cards) because last year's christmas card search was annoyingly fruitless, everything being too religious for the participants, ugly or expensive. I liked an example on Martha Stewart's site so I started on my own variation.

cookies

Of course part of the reason I feel late is because I just barely caught Thanksgiving- these being some cookies I made for the occasion.

Jewelry: Details Before the Official Unveiling

Ambrotype
I picked up this chick in Long Island, my only purchase but she was cheap ($5)
Today I took some detail shots of the jewelry I've completed thus far, I'm not officially unveiling it yet but I think you can get a good idea of the collection from these images. Not shown in whole are shoulder chains and body harnesses, those will come with the "official unveiling".

Weekend Trip to Long Island

I've been neglecting blogging for too long- sorry!

Between work, jewelry making and two weekend trips to Long Island, I haven't had much time at the computer which is probably more healthy for me but we won't go into that.
Instead, I'll add to the already over-saturated world of internet-nature photography and show you some pictures from the weekend.

I have a small side project of Will taking pictures
